Educational goal:

Gaining wider and deeper theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the field of functionality and construction of elements, devices and systems, as well as certain mechatronic components that make up IC engine equipment.

Educational outcome:

Students' ability to independently and creatively use acquired knowledge and skills in percieving and solving new problems, as well as ability to approach the problems in the field of IC engine equipment and mechatronic systems interdisciplinary.

Course content:

Requirements of SI engines in terms of mixture composition. Fuel supply systems for petrol engines. Main features of mixture formation and combustion processes in diesel engines. Diesel engine fuel supply systems. Ignition systems in SI engines. Exhaust emissions of IC engines - harmful components and influential factors on their contents in the exhaust emission. Main features of petrol and diesel engines exhaust emissions. Exhaust gas aftertreatment systems on vehicles with petrol and diesel engines. IC engine cooling systems. IC engine lubrication systems. IC engine starting systems. Sensors in IC engines.

Teaching methods:

Lectures are oral, supplemented by adequate images, diagrams, schemes and video-clips projected on the screen by a computer and a video beam. Auditory practice classes are numerical with presentations, while the laboratory practice classes are performed on test stands using adequate laboratory equipment.
