Acquiring advanced academic knowledge in the field of the role and importance of prevention in risk reduction against fire and events with catastrophic consequences, and enabling students to define optimal measures of prevention for particular hazards.
Students possess advanced academic and professional knowledge about the role and importance of prevention in risk reduction in cases of fire and events with catastrophic consequences. They are able to solve problems of different levels of complexity on their own, as well as in communication and interaction with others. They are entrepreneurial and can lead projects of different complexity by respecting the ethical standards of their profession. They have a positive attitude towards lifelong learning and personal and professional development.
Inherited reactive mentality of protection against fire and events with catastrophic consequences. Fundamental concept of prevention. Systems of early warning as one of preventative mechanisms. The role of government and non-government organization, education, media and private sector in formation and raising of the public awareness about the importance of prevention in risk reduction in cases of catastrophic events and fire. Promoting the principle "Living with risks". Importance of preventive protection against fire. Protective measures against fire in open space, in facilities of different purposes, in transportation means, in industrial plants. Importance of preventive protection against technological accidents and the most important protective measures that can be applied. Importance of preventive protection against earthquakes. Protective measures against earthquakes for people and in engineering objects for different purposes.
Lectures, practical classes, consultations. The theoretical part of the study material is presented at lectures through presentations of individual thematic units, followed by the appropriate examples from practice for the sake of easier perceiving and understanding. At practical classes, the study material is processed through the solving of practical problems with the active participation of students. In addition to lectures and exercises, consultations are held regularly in order to provide students with answers to additional questions related to the study material.
