Subject: Monitoring of electromagnetic radiation in communication infrastructure (17.S1330)

Native organizations units: No data
General information:

Category Theoretical-methodological
Scientific or art field Theoretical Electrotechnics
Interdisciplinary No
ECTS 6
Educational goal:

The objective of the course is to introduce students from the postal traffic and telecommunications study program, with typical sources of EM fields within the postal communication infrastructure, as well as professional training of students in the field of basic modeling and testing of EM fields of these sources of non-ionizing radiation.

Educational outcome:

The ultimate outcome of education within the course is the acquisition of knowledge and ability to apply and improve existing ones through independent and teamwork, as well as to develop new methodologies for testing EM fields, in terms of basic modeling, calculation and measurement of the level of EM fields of typical sources in the infrastructure of postal communication.

Course content:

The following areas are planned to be covered: 1. selected theoretical chapters on the typical sources of the EM field (two weeks of the semester): 2. the methodology of calculating and modeling the EM field (two weeks of the semester): 3. the methodology for measuring the EM field level (two weeks of the semester) : 4. selected theoretical chapters on the antenna systems (two weeks of the semester): 5. normative acts and legislation in the field of EM field testing (two weeks of semester): 6. requirements of the relevant standards for examining the EM field (two weeks of the semester): 7. estimation of exposure of human population by radiation from the source of the EM field (two weeks of semester): 8. selected chapters for estimating the measurement uncertainty of testing the EM field (one week of semester).

Teaching methods:

The following methods are applied in the course: 1. Lectures and laboratory exercises - presentation of theoretical foundations and practical examples of examinations in the context of better understanding and possible clarification of individual parts of the material; 2. consultations - in addition to lectures and exercises, consultations, 3. practical field tests, sources and EM fields in the field of communication infrastructure, 4. possible semestral research work - colleagues would be able to, by studying scientific journals and other literature, independently deepen the basic material from the lectures. In addition to working with subject teachers, colleagues are also trained for future independent writing of scientific papers.
