Scientific or art field Upravljanje rizikom od katastrofalnih događaja i požara
Interdisciplinary Yes
ECTS 5
Educational goal:

The aim of the course is to enable students to understand basic concepts, procedures, and problems that occur during empirical research in most scientific disciplines, and thus to create a research base that includes knowledge of this type, as well as the development of a multidisciplinary approach

Educational outcome:

The ability to independently create a research draft, collect data, process data by univariate procedures, interpret data and compile reports on the conducted research and use the SPSS program. Students are also trained for data analysis with multivariate procedures (Exploratory Factor Analysis, EFA, Confirmatory Factor Analysis CFA, Structural Modeling, SEM, Cluster Analysis).

Course content:

Initially, the problems of research preparation are considered, where a number of basic methodological concepts are introduced, such as types and objects of research, methods of sample selection, classification of variables and relations between them, data types, measurement problems, types of control research, and others. Then, three basic groups of research models are processed, which are frequency, factorial and correlation plans. Within each of the three groups, the models are gradually presented from simple to more complex types. Subsequently, the basic forms of processing, analysis and interpretation of results are presented, especially for all three groups of drafts. The advanced part where students are trained to collect, analyze and process data with multivariate procedures that are in line with the trends of the world's leading journals in the field (in depth research). These are procedures of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, cluster analysis, and Structural Modeling Methods. The emphasis is on the logic and above all the practices mentioned above. At the end of the course, the standard structure of the written research report is described.
