Acquiring knowledge and professional skills in the areas of techno-economic optimization and entrepreneurship in manufacturing enterprises. Developing creative abilities and mastering specific skills for the development of optimal products and manufacturing processes as well as building business plans for small and medium-sized enterprises.
After successfully completing this course, a student is able to: Define objects and goals of optimization, list and describe basic optimization methods; Analyze and evaluate manufacturability of product design; Define rational variants of manufacturing processes and determine the optimal variant based on time and cost as objective functions; Apply multi-criteria optimization methods for evaluation and ranking of product quality and manufacturing processes; List and describe basic types and organizational forms of production enterprises and characteristics of entrepreneurs; Define basic elements of business planning (selection of a business idea, structure of a business plan, production and organizational plan, marketing and financial plan); Draft a business plan for a small or medium-sized manufacturing company

Teaching takes place in the form of lectures, auditory, laboratory and computer exercises. Theoretical part of the course with typical examples from practice is represented on the lectures. Exercises are practically intended for applying the acquired knowledge through specific examples and tasks. Students are trained to apply information technologies from the course material on computer exercises. For the purpose of extending practical knowledge, company visits are organized. Consultations are held regularly in order to bring course material closer to development of appropriate seminar and graphic papers. Colloquium refers to the theoretical part of the course, while the written part refers to the work on solving appropriate tasks.
