Acquisition of knowledge, competencies and academic skills in the areas of selection, calculation and exploitation of fixtures. Development of creative abilities and mastering specific practical skills in the domain of fixtures design.

Ability to solve specific problems in the domain of fixtures exploitation. Mastering the methods, procedures and processes of selection and calculation of fixtures using scientific methods. Development of skills and competences for designing and quality control of fixtures. Ability to critically and self-critical thinking and approach in defining management strategies for fixtures.

The term, place and role of fixtures. Concepts of fixtures, their characteristics and applications The basic elements of fixtures. Locating elements. Clamping elements. Fixture body elements. Tool guiding elements. Tool aligning elements. Connecting elements. Add-on elements (elements for bridging height and length distances, elements for fixture manipulation, elements for fixture positioning on machine tool, elements for attaching fixtures to machine, securing elements, translating elements, rotating elements). Influential factors, basic rules and flow in fixtures design. Mechanization and automation of fixtures. Selection, application and exploitation of fixtures. Universal fixtures. Dedicated fixtures. Fixtures for group technology. Modular fixtures. Phase-change fixtures. Fixtures for assembly and disassembly. Fixtures in metrology and quality control. Fixtures for coordinate measuring machines. Fixtures for additive manufacturing. Fixtures for handling. Fixtures for precision engineering.

Teaching is performed with modern didactic means and methods, interactive in the form of lectures, laboratory and computer exercises. In addition to lectures and exercises, consultations are also held regularly. The lectures show the theoretical part of the material accompanied by characteristic examples for easier understanding of the subject matter. Laboratory exercises are practically applied to the acquired knowledge on the available laboratory equipment. Computer exercise is carried out using information and communication technologies with the aim of mastering the knowledge and skills of the observed area.
