Acquiring wider and deeper theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of simulation and design of IC engines.

Students' ability to independently and creatively use acquired knowledge and skills in solving specific and non-routine problems in the field of design and simulation of IC engines.

Kinematics of crank gear. Piston travel, velocity and acceleration laws. Dynamics of crank gear: analysis and determination of forces acting on crank gear components. Polar load diagrams and wear diagrams of crankshaft journals and bearings. Calculation of tangential force, average tangential force and torque of IC engine. Uneven turning of engine crankshaft and excess work of engine torque. Dimensioning and calculation of engine flywheel. Dimensioning and strength calculation of piston assembly elements: pistons, piston rings and piston pin. Dimensioning of connecting rod and calculation of its strength. Engine crankshaft strength calculation. Application of computer tools for crank gear operation simulation. Analysis of kinematic and dynamic behavior of crank gear based on the results of the simulation.

Classes are held in the form of lectures, laboratory practice and computer exercises in specialized computer classroom. Office-hours are also provided.
