Subject: LAYOUT AND LOCATION OF THE ENTERPRISE (17.IM2119)

Native organizations units: Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, Chair of Production Systems, Organization and Management
General information:

Category Professional-applicative
Scientific or art field Proizvodni i uslužni sistemi, organizacija i menadžment
Interdisciplinary No
ECTS 4
Educational goal:

The goal of course is to master the basic knowledge in the field of design and analysis of spatial structure and company location (designing, modeling, simulation, multi-criteria analysis) that enable students to perform the analysis of various solutions in the design and site selection of the company. The aim of the course for B.Sc. in industrial engineering and management is to gain competence for the application of advanced tools for the design and analysis and time involved in work processes within the functions of production, development and management of the system.

Educational outcome:

Students will be able to design, model, simulate and analyse multiple criteria in order to optimize company structure and the spatial location of the company. B.Sc. in Engineering Management acquires competence for advanced design system structure with the application of simulation as analytical tools, and knowledge in the application of sophisticated geographic information systems in multi-criteria analysis of the site.

Course content:

Forms of flows in the system. Principles of forming spatial structures. Bases for design of structures. Design procedures of spatial structures. Simulation as a method for optimization of space structures and flows in the system. Revitalization of spatial structures. Location of the company. Maps for site selection. Influences on the choice of location. Geographic information systems and technology to support the analysis of the locations. Spatial Decision Support Systems. Multi-criteria methods and analysis. Simulation and evaluation of potential sites. Artificial/Computational intelligence approach in location analysis. Intelligent Decision Support Systems.

Teaching methods:

Lessons include lectures on the subject with examples of spatial structure of the systems analysis and business locations. Group work is encouraged in order to design the structure of the system and analyzing the location of production systems and analysis simulation methods by software and and artificial/computational techniques. The entire exercise is carried out with the help of computers.
