Acquiring fundamental knowledge in the field of internal combustion engine design, theory, operating characteristics and equipment.
Students' ability to use acquired knowledge and skills independently, solving specific and non routine problems and understanding new tendencies in the process of IC Engines development.
Fundamental terms and definitions, history and application of IC engines. Basic classifications and operation principles of IC engines. Fundamentals of crank gear and its components. Valve train - operation principle and basic features. IC engine fuels and their properties. Ideal cycles of IC engines. Real IC engine cycles - analysis, basic features and performance parameters. IC engine energy balance. Fundamentals of IC engine operating characteristics. Fundamentals of petrol engine fuelling systems. Fundamentals of diesel engine fuelling systems. Fundamantals of ignition systems. Fundamentals of IC engine cooling systems. Fundamentals of IC engine lubrication systems. Fundamentals of IC engine starting systems.
