The course aims to give the student an insight into the complexity of computer game design. The very process of designing computer games is the process of designing a whole new world whose environment, rules, mechanics and balance must be thoroughly designed. Technical and artistic aspects are constantly intertwined in this process, and they encourage students to develop them equally. The development of the gameplay scenario is also taken into an account fulfilling the defined requirements for video game purposes. Students will be introduced to game classification, essential elements of the creative process, game plot, character and environment design, 2d and 3d game developing technologies. At the end of the course, students will be able to participate in the creative process of game development.

Students will be introduced to the fundamental concepts and problems of computer game design. After completing the pre-examination and exam obligations prescribed by the course, students will understand the complexity of the profession of computer game designer developing an excellent basis for more extensive research in this field. Outcomes of this course are also reflected in familiarizing with the basic concepts of the computer game design process, and the acquired knowledge is used in the profession, independent work and further education.

Lectures. Computer Practice. Consultations. Interactive teaching consists of the lectures and computer practice. The theory is presented in lectures, followed by the examples for better understanding of the course content. Computer practice is organized in a manner to supplement the skills needed for video game creation.
