Acquiring knowledge, competencies and academic skills from the field of chemistry for graphic engineering. Development of creative abilities and mastering specific practical skills in the field of chemistry for graphic engineering. The intention of the teacher is that through this course the student acquires knowledge about basic concepts and definitions in chemistry for graphic engineering. The student should understand the use of basic chemical concepts and definitions in the context of learning, set up and solve problems, develop the ability to identify problems in the field of chemistry in terms of identification, formulation and possible resolution, as well as to familiarize with basic principles of engineering judgment and decision making.

Ability to solve specific problems in the field of chemistry that will enable students to understand the chemical processes and phenomena that occur in the field of graphic engineering as well as acquiring critical and self-critical thinking and approach. Mastering chemical processes and processes in the field of chemistry for graphic engineering with the application of scientific methods. After this course, the student is able to: connect acquired knowledge with the subjects that will have in further education and to apply it in engineering disciplines involving chemistry and chemical problems, communicate with other engineers and work in the team, creatively think, demonstrate knowledge and skills, and also to use acquired knowledge to design new solutions to engineering problems, but also to independently pursue chemistry-related learning if needed.

The subject includes: basic terms and chemical laws, units, structure of pure substances, structure of solids, nature of gases and liquids, atomic structure, electron energy levels in the atom, atomic orbitals, electronic configuration, basic stoichiometric calculations, periodic system of elements, chemical bond, molecular structure, concept of valence, ionic bond, covalent bond, hydrogen bonding, metal bonding, systematization and terminology of basic classes of inorganic compounds, oxides, acids, bases and salts, characteristic chemical reactions, oxidation reactions, complex reactions, chemical reaction rate, chemical equilibrium, thermochemistry, electrochemical basics, electrolytes and electrolytic dissociation, water hardness, surface phenomena, surface stress, spillage and wetting, capillary phenomena, adsorption, colloidal systems, the concept and distribution of disperse systems, photochemistry, the basics of organic chemistry, systematization and terminology of basic classes of organic compounds, chemical reactions in organic chemistry, chemical structure of polymers, chemical composition and basic properties of printing dyes, chemical composition of adhesives.

Teaching is performed with modern didactic means and methods, interactively in the form of lectures and laboratory classes. The lectures present the theoretical part of the course accompanied by characteristic examples for easier understanding of the subject matter. Terms and methods that can be applied to solve a large number of tasks are selected. It is recommended that students actively participate so that each lesson is mastered already in time. In the lectures, one part of the case is done, the rest are done in both classes and at home through homework. In addition to lectures and classes, consultations are regularly held as well as additional pre-exam consultations. In laboratory classes acquired knowledge is applied in practise on the available laboratory equipment.
