ECTS 6

Students acquire knowledge in the field of advanced microprocessor systems and conduct research work in the field.

Students who complete the course with success are able to: -design and implement hardware for complex microcomputer systems based on advanced microprocessors -design and implement application and system programmes for a given complex microprocessor system -stay up-to-date with cutting edge literature in the field of modern microprocessor systems and is able to participate in a team woking on a research project in the field.

The overview of functional units and modules of modern microprocessor systems. Advanced technologies and techniques for the advancement of microprocessor system performances. The structure of modern microprocessors. The desing of advanced microprocessor systems. Hardware accelerators. The development of the programme support for modern microprocessor systems. Open research questions in the field of modern microprocessor systems.

The theoretical basis is presented to students at lectures given by the professor. Students can give short presentations on assigned topics during the lectures. At the laboratory practice teaching assistens conduct the introductory practical classes. Students are oblidged to prepare at home for each laboratory practice and bring a written preparation/report if required for a specific practice exercise. The remaining time at the laboratory practice is used for practical application of the covered subject matter, and, if needed, it can be used for the evaluation of the students’ knowledge. Within the laboratory practice, students can give short presentations on given topics
