Educational goal:

To train students to: understand architecture and to work with modern embedded computers (e.g. Raspbery Pi, Orange Pi, Beaglebone etc.); design embedded computer system by adding additional hardware modules; design and test software applications for designed embedded computer system using high level programming language; and desing user interface for the designed embedded computer system using high level programming language.

Educational outcome:

Students who successfully complete this course will be able: to understand architecture, module functioning, Linux based operating system setup and to work with modern embedded computer systems (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi, Beaglebone etc.); to design embedded computer systems using additional hardware and system software modules; to design and test user applications for designed embedded computer systems using high level programming language (e.g. C or C++); and to design user interfaces for designed embedded comuter system using libraries and work frameworks of high level programming languages (e.g. Qt).

Course content:

Modern embedded computer systems architecture. Communication and other interfaces of modern embedded computer systems. Linux based operating systems of modern embedded computer systems. Embedded hardware modules (e.g. various sensors, LCD, AD and DA converters etc.). Kernel libraries and modules. User interface design principles. Modern embedded computer systems networking.
