Subject: Selected chapters of internal combustion engines (17.DM529)

Native organizations units: No data
General information:

Category Scientific-professional
Scientific or art field Motorna vozila i motori SUS
Interdisciplinary No
ECTS 10
Educational goal:

The subject goal is an objective, systematic and critical approach to the scientific methods applied in internal combustion engines.

Educational outcome:

Student gets a capability to perform experimental and theoretical research in an area of scientific disciplines that are implemented in field of internal combustion engines, having a goal towards the optimization and further development of the IC engine components and subsystems. Student should develop individuality and systematic approach in all steps of research, including teamwork and international cooperation skills.

Course content:

Student selects a field according to the research that is directed towards realization of doctoral dissertation: theoretical cycles, real cycles, processes in engines, engines efficiency, engines ecology, combustion in IC engines, internal combustion engine mechanisms, systems in IC engines. Thermodynamic analysis of non-conventional and rotary internal combustion engines. Working processes of engines with alternative fuel. Kinematics and dynamics of the piston mechanism. Working processes of two-stroke and four-stroke IC engines. Simulation in IC engines. IC engines characteristics.

Teaching methods:

Lectures, study research work and consultations. The lectures provide a theoretical part of the material using modern equipment and information and communication technologies. Through lectures, a student acquires and mastered contemporary scientific knowledge, scientific methods and procedures that enable him to become independent research work. In addition to lectures, consultations are also held regularly. Study research work includes all forms of teaching that are in the function of directly training a student for research, writing scientific papers and making a doctoral dissertation. Study research work includes active monitoring of primary scientific sources, organization and execution of numerical simulations and experimental research.
