The aim of the course is to empower students for maintaining, planning and managing maintenance processes of safety-critical software systems as well as for performing quality control and assurance tasks.

The major outcomes are the preparedness for: planning of tasks regarding maintenance and quality control and creating as well as managing maintenance processes and quality control.

The usage of metrics for monitoring and improving a maintenance process and quality control routine. Creation of a maintenance plan and quality assurance plan. Maintenance processes and quality control processes. Managing a software organization and its resources regarding maintenance and quality control of safety-critical software systems. Overview and deep analysis of real case studies, both of those which exemplify correct usage of maintenance techniques as well as those which demonstrate inappropriate handling of maintenance processes.

Teaching is done via lectures. Besides theoretical study students also prepare a seminar work. A seminar work has to expand on the course s content and describe the implementation of at least one concrete assignment from the course s domain.
