Educational goal:

- The ability to design various Lab-on-a-chip structures - Fabrication of the Lab-on-a-chip structures, using different modern techniques - Testing Lab-on-a-chip structures

Educational outcome:

Describe and understand the fundamental operation of basic microfluidic components such as fluidic channels, pumps, valves, mixers, and filters. Design and fabricate lab-on-a-chip devices to address a wide range of biomedical applications. Learn the fundamentals of microfluidics Learn the fundamentals of numerical simulations in microfluidics.

Course content:

Introduction to lab-on-a-chip systems. Fundamentals of microfluidics. Materials and microfabrication methods. Driving and control of flow. Analysis of cells and multi-cellular organisms. Numerical simulations. Droplet-based microfluidic systems. Organ-on-a-chip structures.

Teaching methods:

Lectures. Independent work in the laboratory. Consultations.
