Educational goal:

This course presents basic foundational aspects or statistics with fuzzy data, together with its practical applications. The objective of the course is to offer an overview and fundamental understanding of some methods in fuzzy data processing, i.e. to teach students about processing and making conclusions on fuzzy data.

Educational outcome:

Student should be able to use the acquired knowledge in scientific research. The student is enabled to make and solve models for phenomena whose output values are fuzzy random variables or random sets, using the acquired knowledge of fuzzy data processing.

Course content:

The course content includes the following topics. 1) Random sets, fuzzy numbers, fuzzy random variables and random fuzzy sets 2) Fuzzy data modelling 3) Fundamentals of statistical decision theory 4) Descriptive statistics of fuzzy data 5) Mean hypothesis testing 6) Analysis of fuzzy time series

Teaching methods:

Lectures. Consultations. The lectures are organized in combined form. The presentation of the theoretical part is followed by the corresponding examples which contribute to better understanding of the theoretical part. In addition to lectures there are regular consultations. A students writes a seminar paper on one of the above mentioned topics and gives an oral presentation related to it. Through study and research work a student works independently on getting deeper understanding of the subject matter through study of the scientific journals and other relevant literature. Working with the course teacher, the students are prepared for independent work on writing a scientific paper.
