Acquisition of knowledge, competencies and academic skills in the area of biotribology. Development of creative abilities and mastering specific practical skills in the domain of friction, wear and lubrication of biotribological systems.

Ability to solve specific problems in the domain of biotribology. Mastering the methods, procedures and processes of biotribological design using scientific methods. Development of skills and competences for systematic approach in biotribology. Ability to critically and self-critical thinking and approach to solving problems in the field of biotribology.

Interdisciplinary character of tribology. Friction. Wear. Lubrication. Technological aspects of tribology. System approach to tribology. Defining and modeling tribological systems. Tribological processes. Simulation of tribological phenomena. Introduction to biotribology. Overview of biotribology in different biological systems. Principles of biotribology. Biomaterials. Tribology of the locomotor system. Okular tribology. Tribology of the joint. Tribology of dental implants and dental prostheses. Tribology of orthopedic implants.

Teaching is performed with modern didactic means and methods, interactive in the form of lectures, auditory, laboratory and computer exercises. In addition to lectures and exercises, consultations are also held regularly. The lectures show the theoretical part of the material accompanied by characteristic examples for easier understanding of the subject matter. Auditory exercises perform characteristic tasks and deepen the exposed material. Laboratory exercises are practically applied to the acquired knowledge on the available laboratory equipment. Computer exercise is carried out using information and communication technologies with the aim of mastering the knowledge and skills of the observed area.
