Obtaining basic knowledge about motion capturing of objects with rigid body and human movements, as well as analysis of captured motion field and its post processing for specific applications.
Training and preparation for independent work with VICON motion capturing system. Introduction of VICON motion capturing equipment and its usage methodology for efficient motion capturing. Familiarizing with existing state of the art approaches and methodologies for motion capturing that are similar to VICON system. Creating and importing new models which are added into the scene that is recorded. Part of the this subject will include independent research of selected topics related to motion capturing. This independent research activity shall consist of overview of current state of the art in motion capturing methodologies, human motion analysis and its applications for 3D motion animation.
Introduction into human modeling and representation of human motion vector field. Modeling of branched systems. Direct and inverse kinematics. Recording and synthesis of human walk. Recording and synthesis of other human motion models. Recording and synthesis of facial expressions. Detailed motion analysis, post processing of obtained motion vector field and its formation into a suitable form for application. Optimization methods for determining final motion model based on input motion capturing data. Motion capturing and synthesis application for animations, robotics, medicine, etc.
The teaching will be given in the following form: (i) lecturing of theoretical basics, (ii) practical work in the motion capturing lab – motion recording, analysis, post processing and application, (iii) project work in cooperation with lecturers. Teaching is conducted with active participation of students, while practical part is done with motion capturing system, that includes computers, equipment and SW.
