Objavljen je FP7-ERAChairs-Pilot poziv i otvoren je do 30. maja 2013. godine sa ukupnim budžetom od 12 miliona evra.

Cilj konkursa je podizanje istraživačke efikasnosti naučnih institucija s dokazanim potencijalom za istraživačku izuzetnost na međunarodnom nivou. Konkurs će pružiti podršku aktivnostima koje omogućavaju strukturne promene u institucijama. Te promene treba da obezbede razvoj kompetitivnog istraživačkog okruženja i povoljne uslove za vrhunske istraživače u skladu sa Evropskom poveljom za istraživače i Kodeksu regrutovanja istraživača.

Uspešne institucije će dobiti finansijska sredstva za pokrivanje troškova ERA CHAIRS holder-a i njegovog istraživačkog tima, troškove istraživanja, kao i troškove vezane za aktivnosti koje su u funkciji implementacije ERA CHAIRS načela. Odabrani ERA CHAIRS holder treba biti izuzetan, prepoznati stručnjak u svom naučnom polju sa liderskim potencijalom koji će uspostaviti tim naučnika za izvođenje strukturnih promena u instituciji. Odabrane institucije obavezaće se na sprovođenje mera koje će osigurati strukturne promene i kroz mobilizaciju drugih finansijskih sredstava, bilo nacionalnih / regionalnih ili sredstava iz Strukturnih fondova.

Biće finansirano pet ERA CHAIRS projekata i to najviše jedan projekat po državi.

   Many regions in Europe have poor performance in research as regards both general productivity and the participation in research projects financed by the European Union.

   Combining European Union funds for research with regional European Union funds will lead to ensuring laboratories and equipments for the academicians and their teams.

   Under the pilot programme, the European Commission will award the up to €2.4 m grants to universities or research institutions in less developed European regions.

   The aim of the so-called ERA Chairs initiative is to attract outstanding scientists to the institutions which wish to receive international recognition in the research field.

   The ERA Chairs initiative will support the efforts of universities and other similar organizations to achieve research excellence necessary to compete at the international level.

   These institutions will need to demonstrate that they can provide the necessary equipment and environment for carrying out outstanding research work in line with the European Research Area.
