Acquiring specialized knowledge necessary for the planning, design, construction, control and maintenance of hydropower plants: large hydro power plants, small hydropower plants and other plants using energy of water production of electric energy

Planning, design, construction, control and maintenance of hydropower plants.

Energy of water, hydropower resources. Methods of using hydropower. Classification of hydropower plants, impoundment, diversion and pumped storage hydropower plants, special types of hydropower plants. Energetic and economic calculations and analyzes. Specificity of hydropower plants regarding the type of installed turbines. Mechanical equipment of hydropower plants - penstocks, gates, valves, auxiliary equipment and systems. Electrical equipment of hydro power plants. Safety elements for protection against transients. Operational control of hydro power plants.

Lectures: combination of modern (presentations, simulations) and classic (chalk and blackboard, physical models) Numerical practice: (8 weeks): numerical and graphical problems. Laboratory practice (7 weeks). experimental determination of performance characteristics of hydraulic turbines on laboratory test stands.
