The objective of the course is to familiarise with the basic principles of mobile application development with a focus on user interface design and user experience testing. Students will get acquainted with the components of mobile applications, the specifics of different platforms and prototype creation, and the creation of a user interface to the prototype. Students are trained for design for mobile devices of various sizes, working with multimedia content and programming within different mobile operating systems.
Students get theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to create an interactive prototype of a high level of detail of a specific mobile application and acquire the competencies for design development and testing the application's user interface.
Introduction to mobile platforms (Android, iOS). Mobile application components. Structure of the mobile application design project. Development environments (Android Studio). Activities (basics of activities, defining activities, life cycle of intent activities and intent filters, starting activities). Tasks (return stack, task management, base of fragments, defining fragments, fragment life cycle). UI (XML, resources, device configurations, UI templates, view basics, view types, layout basics, layouts, styles, and themes). Material Design.
Teaching is done in the form of lectures, computer exercises and consultations that are carried out according to the established schedule. Lectures are conducted using didactic and educational content in electronic and digital form. In lectures, with the use of modern presentations and demonstration tools and techniques with the application of interactive method of work with students in order to gain insight into their background, theoretical part of the material is presented with examples. Studded material students confirm through the creation and defence of the independent semestral project represents the interactive prototype of the mobile application.
