The purpose of this course is to acquiring fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge to analyze and model business processes. Furthermore, techniques for process’ automatizations are considered. Successful completion of the course ensures knowledge and skill to work with models which formally describe intricate and complex business processes emerged in different companies.

Students who successfully pass this course are qualified to generate and work with models which accurately and precisely describe business processes. By developing independent projects students will create and utilize this kind of models. The business process model presents the participants, the logic of the process itself and collaboration of people and different system to achieve a common goal. In this way, the consideration of the complex reality is simplified, so it is easier to achieve standardization of work performance, automation, knowledge transfer and potential re-engineering of the business process.

Definitions and main characteristics of business processes. Methodology of business processes modeling. Decomposition of business processes. Coordination mechanisms. Dependency control. Concurrent processes. Bussines process management and notification (BPMN). Activity diagrams. Graph theory. Service-oriented architecture. Preparation of seminar work with the use of software tools.
