Acquiring advanced level of knowledge in the field of specific waste streams (batteries and accumulators, electronic and electrical waste, end-of-life vehicles, waste tires, waste oils, construction and demolition waste, etc.), in accordance with modern principles of environmental protection and resource conservation. Analysis of modern technologies for the treatment of special waste streams with the focus on the potential for recycling and energy recovery. Analysis and comparison of different options for recycling and energy recovery of special waste streams considering technological, economic and legislative aspects.

PhD student acquire the necessary advanced knowledge related to the overall management system of specific waste streams and sufficient level of competency from the aspect of different technological solutions application in terms of recycling and energy recovery of raw materials obtained from special waste streams.

The basic physical and chemical characteristics of specific waste streams and their impact on environment; Legislation and specific national objectives in the field of special waste streams management; Analysis of specific waste streams collection systems; Technologies for the treatment of special waste streams with the focus on the recycling and energy recovery potential.
