Acquiring knowledge about the source and character of emissions of pollutants, as well as other harmful effects, in all stages of exploitation of energy plant; to analyze the impact of pollutants from energy facilities on the environment and to analyze available technologies and devices for reducing and controlling emission of harmful substances.

Acquiring knowledge in the field of environmental protection in domain of the harmful effects of energy facilities. Students are being learned about the character and sources of emissions of pollutants from energy facilities, as well as, to quantify emissions of pollutants and to define the best method and equipment for their reduction.

An overview of possible sources and forms of pollution, their character and environmental impacts in the operation of energy facilities that use fossil fuels; calculation emissions of pollutants from the energy facilities and overview of permitted emission of pollutants, factors and quantities determined type of energy facility; review of domestic legislation on emissions of harmful substances from energy facilities, international environmental protection activities and reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases; determination of technologies and devices for reducing the emission of harmful substances from energy facilities, flue gas cleaning, methods and plants for reducing sulfur and nitrogen oxide emissions.

Lectures, auditory exercises and consultation. Lectures: theoretical part of the curriculum. Exercises: the exercises accompanying the lecture material is elaborated with examples from practice.
