The main task of the course Urban Acupuncture is that students find urban places - points that should encourage and trigger the urban life of the local population. This modern approach to urban transformation summarizes the numerous processes, methods and procedures that should lead to an adequate design solution, which should form new places for social integration for local community. Students should do: examine and survey the inhabitants about their areas and needs, find spaces and places in which activities should improve urban life, present their ideas to the population and discuss with them the directions of project development, determine the economic value of the project, define and adopt with inhabitants the most optimal solution that can really be done in the space in order to encourage social integration and improve the urban quality of the selected spatial point. Each of these phases is checked and reconciled with the initial stance that students contribute to real-life changes in space, or to learn at this level of studies to direct their activities to real urban transformations of a small scale.

Teaching is carried out through lectures and exercises, and mentoring with each student on the development of urban acupuncture projects. Students at each stage of the development of the project present in public their solutions to teachers, as well as experts from urban public enterprises dealing with urban development. The presentations are planned to take place in front of the local population, which should constantly have insight into the development of the design approach and idea.
