The goal of the course is to enable the students to design the appropriate development strategy for urban fragments through planning documents, studies and analyses, which should lead to the most optimal spatial transformation. The planning process should in the best way meet the needs of future residents/users of urban areas by systematically and methodically providing a synthesis of all the relevant forces and influences acting in contemporary urban systems.

Students who successfully listened to and fulfil all obligations under the program will be able to form appropriate methods and strategies in the planning of urban transformation. All knowledge will be used in further architectural matters, using them on projects of all scales and programs.

Program of the subject will introduced students to the basic concepts and legislation in Serbia and urban design, and systems that are used in neighboring countries and Europe. Transformation of the urban environment will be examined regardless of their scale and characteristics. On exercises will be carried out assignments for students on the best way to detect adequate methods, models and concepts for transforming urban environment.

Classes will be conducted through lectures, exercises and field work in specific urban areas where students will be introduced to the current situation.
