Main course objective is to present the interaction between regional development and environment, since there is mutual influence between these two developments. These interdependences will be described and discussed by systematic approaches, presenting also risks of diverse models for regional development and preservation of environmental potentials. Environmental themes will be natural conditions, traffic, noise, sewage, waste etc. Likewise, positive and negative examples of regional development will be presented. The objectives of the program is designed to introduce students to the strategies of regional development issues in the region, strengths and weaknesses and the opportunities and risks.

Enabling of students for organizing and leading of a process of public participation that make an adequate decision-making processes on the many aspects that making possible the functioning of contemporary cities, as far as planning is concerned, and in all subjects that affect the quality of life of the inhabitants.

Introductory definitions of public participation and involvement of local community in decision making processes, legal frameworks in Serbia, EU and certain countries; planning topics at regional as well as all other spatial levels: environmental protection, exploitation of natural resources, planning of topics such as traffic, noise, wastewater, waste; systematic approaches to independent regional development and the preservation of the environment; Processes and ways of participation of citizens and influential groups in transformations and planning of the region.
