Educational goal:

The subject of theoretical foundations of the doctoral dissertation is a tool for evaluating the ability of students of doctoral studies to conduct independent scientific research, and it is aim to motivate students to demonstrate and synthesize the theoretical and research work, determine the creative potential of students to continue their studies, determine the ability of students to understand and apply the fundamental concepts of science, test vocational abilities of students and their ability to express ideas clearly, as well as identify the fields of science candidates need to study further as necessary basis for the preparation of doctoral dissertation.

Educational outcome:

Training students for achieving scientific abilities and academic skills, developing creative abilities and mastering specific practical skills from the topics of the study program. Students will also be able to solve theoretical and practical problems independently, understand and apply the latest knowledge, examine the latest achievements, take independent and creative action, relate and apply knowledge from different fields, solve problems using scientific methods, conduct numerical simulations and experimental research, present and discuss the results of research, communicate at professional level in writing and present the results of scientific research.

Course content:

Browsing and analyzing results of scientific-research. Writing a subject-related project from the topic of doctoral dissertation. The student is obliged to write the subject-related project in which he/she explains the topic of doctoral dissertation. The student should define and explain the following: the research subject (problem), research motivation, research goals, scientific hypothesis, work plan, methods to be applied and other relevant data.

Teaching methods:

The student is obliged to prepare the paper within the given topic, who defends before the commission. During the process of preparation, the mentor may provide the student with additional instructions, refer to specific literature, and provide student further guidance supporting him/her in writing a high quality research and scientific work. In order to make the research more successful, the student seeks advice from the mentor and other professors involved in the research topic. Within the given subject, the student analyzes earlier studies, identifies the problems, defines the objectives of his/her research, conducts numerical simulations or experimental research.
