Category Scientific-professional
Scientific or art field Applied Computer Science and Informatics
ECTS 4

Make students capable of programming Web of Things (WoT) applications and systems on various devices and platforms using Internet technologies and web protocols for communication. These applications could be applicable in the following type of projects: smart house, smart classrooms, smart cities, improving transport, e-health, increasing regularity in sports.

Methods, technologies and standards for development of WoT applications

Fundamentals of Internet of Things and Web of Things concepts, paradigms and technologies. Development of small applications and familiarization with the following platforms: Arduino, Raspberry PI. Theoretical fundamentals of sensors, actuators, communication devices, microcontrollers and communication protocols (HTTP). Overview and application of REST API, a complex SOA architecture.

Teaching methods include: Lectures, computer practice, homework assignments, and consultations. During the lectures the content of the course is presented using the necessary didactic tools while student active participation is encouraged. The practical aspect of the course is covered at computer practice classes through assignments which students do independently or with the help of teaching assistants as well as through homework obligatory assignments.
