Educational goal:

This course introduces the contemporary tourism and destination management in consideration of quality standards and information technologies. Tourism policy as a regional development tool is analysed to promote sustainable and balanced development and heritage conservation in less developed areas as well. Furthermore, the course will sharpen students` understanding of tourism impacts on regional economy, land use and the environment.

Educational outcome:

Students will be able to analyse the spatial and social impact of tourism, they will be provided with adequate and detailed knowledge on tourism and leisure systems, they will learn to detect future challenges in tourism. Students will be provided with competences which foster critical and cross-linked thinking on tourism as a regional development perspective.

Course content:

Changing patterns of tourism and leisure production and consumption; competition and new destinations Tourism policy as a regional development tool; integration of less developed areas; heritage conservation by tourism Sustainable and balanced development of tourism; impact of tourism on regional economy, environment and land use

Teaching methods:

Communication method, group work, individual work, one obligatory final multiple choice test (e-learning).
