Machines for continuous processing of plastic materials (calendering, extrusion, etc..). Extruder structure. Types of extruders. Extruder hardware. Screws for extrusion. Extruder drive. Instrumentation and control. Machines for discontinuous processing of plastic materials. Characterization of the injection molding process. Machines for injection molding. General design and function of injection molding machines. Injection unit. Screw design. Barrel. Nozzle. Clamping unit. Calculation of clamping force. Control system. Selection of injection molding machines. Equipment for joining and welding of plastic materials. Auxiliary equipment for plastic processing. Safety measures.

Lectures are realized interactively through lectures, laboratory and computer practical classes. In lectures theoretical part is presented with characteristic examples for better understanding of subject content. Laboratory classes involves practical demonstration (machine Victory 30, Engel) of the structure and functions of an injection molding machines. Practical and detailed introduction to certain types of machines for plastic processing is also done through visits to specialized companies. Computer exercises comprise the use of information and communication technologies. which are employed for the design of plastic manufacturing processes and machine details. Apart from lectures and practical classes, consultations are held regularly.
