Acquiring knowledge in the field of product development by using methods and technologies developed in order to digitize engineering activities in industry.

Knowledge of methods, technologies and products for product development using the methodology of integrated product development and the use of Internet technologies in industry in line with IIOT strategies.

Introduction to the subject. The concept of virtual prototype, division, methods of its definition and applicability in various applications in modern production engineering. The notion of virtual reality, immersion, application possibilities in product development. Real-time interaction, real-time simulation, direct interaction with input-output devices. Computer equipment for the development of a virtual prototype. Application of virtual prototype and virtual reality in product design. Concepts of design, parts, assemblies, engineering analysis and product optimization. Application of virtual prototype and virtual reality in the preparation and realization of production. Application of virtual prototype and virtual reality in other engineering activities.

Lectures are realized in the form of lectures, auditory and computer practical classes and consultations. The lectures show the theoretical part of the material illustrated by characteristic examples. Through computer exercises, acquired knowledge is used to solve a specific task. In addition to lectures and exercises, consultations are also held regularly. Assessment of the exam is based on: attendance at lectures and exercises, successfully completed colloquium, successfully completed and defended seminar work (one task), and oral part of the exam.
