ECTS 4

The educational objective of the course is to introduce students to the advanced techniques that are applied in the field of sanitary engineering and primarily to the techniques used for designing water supply and sewage systems in settlements and cities. In addition, students are expected to acquire expertise which they will then be able to use for independent work with the given techniques by using modern standards and methods.

After attending lectures and exercises, students gain the ability to work independently and apply advanced techniques to the construction of water supply and sewerage systems in settlements. The abilities and knowledge they gain is also necessary because it enables students to take into account environmental protection within the framework where they acquire education.

Detailed description and illustration of solutions in the field of water distribution, sewage construction and environmental protection engineering. Water supply design refers to the needs and requirements for water, for various purposes of water in everyday life, resources of water which is distributed, quantity and quality of water, treatment and distribution of water, etc. The design of sewage systems refers to the quality and quantity of municipal waste water, the construction and design of sewerage systems, treatment methods, and more. Showing a typical design of a municipal wastewater treatment plant which applies activated sludge techniques and SBR facilities.

Teaching is performed by using projection screen, applying adequate techniques for representation, presenting current issues in the European environment and the country, preparing and making exercises which will help students grasp the given lecture, audit exercises.
