ECTS 5

To understand what should be measured and how it should be measured; to be able to perform data acquisition and data processing correctly; to apply computational procedures of system identification within frameworks of rheology and structural analysis.

Ability to work in laboratory; possibility to choose appropriate constitutive axioms for different materials and determine the numerical values of corresponding rheological parameters; skills to relate model predictions and recorded behaviour for the purpose of model validation.

Rheological and structural experiments. Physical properties of materials. Force, stress, strain, displacement, velocity and acceleration measurements in controlled conditions. Experimental data acquisition and data processing. Descriptive and comparative statistics. Analysis of data obtained form video recording. Simulation of mechanical system behaviour in time domain and comparison with recorded one.

Lectures, presentations of real problems, laboratory work, exercises comprising Mathematica and Matlab tools. Homeworks chosen to check understanding of the introduced both notions and methods. Exam comprises theoretical, practical and computational part.
