Educational goal:

The aim of the subject is acquiring the knowledge, competencies and academic skills of students about diagnostics and maintenance of systems. The course envisages development of creative abilities and mastering of specific practical skills in the domain of diagnostics and maintenance of systems. We also plan students to achieve the ability to use information and communication technologies in the field of diagnostics and maintenance of systems.

Educational outcome:

Ability for solving of specific problems in the field of diagnostics and maintenance of systems. Ability to critically and self-critical thinking and approach in solving of specific problems of maintenance of systems by using of diagnostics. Students will be trained to use modern methods of diagnostics for the purpose of system maintenance. Development of skills and ability in the field of diagnostics and maintenance of systems. Students will also be trained to use information and communication technologies in the field of diagnostics and maintenance of systems.

Course content:

Active and passive protection of the pipeline from corrosion. Recordings of pipeline insulation, pipe damage, pipe wall thickness, pipe pigging and intelligent pipe pigging. External, internal and visual control, vibrodiagnostics, testing of sealing and strength of equipments. Leak detection of natural gas, carbon monoxide, control of internal gas installation. Condition based maintenance. Preventive examinations, ongoing maintenance and intervention maintenance. Maintenance procedures, maintenance instructions, checklists. Maintenance management.

Teaching methods:

Teaching is done with modern didactic means and methods, interactively in the form of lectures, laboratory and computational exercises. In addition to lectures and exercises, consultations are also regularly held. The lectures present the theoretical part of the material accompanied by characteristic examples for easier understanding of the subject matter. Students practically apply acquired knowledge during laboratory exercises by using of available laboratory equipments.
