The objective of the course is to acquire knowledge, competencies and academic skills of students on the transport of solid materials through pipes. The course envisages the development of creative abilities and mastering specific practical skills in the field of hydraulic and pneumatic transport. It is also planned for students to achieve the ability to use information and communication technologies in the field of solid material transport through pipes.
Ability to solve specific problems in the field of transport of solid material through pipes. Ability for critical and self-critical thinking and approach in solving specific problems in the field of the slurry transportation. Development of skills and competencies in the field of hydraulic and pneumatic transportation. Students will also be trained in the use of information and communication technologies in the field of pipe transport. Preparation of final year students in the design of hydraulic and pneumatic transport.
Pipeline transportation of solid materials. Physical properties of mixtures. Fluidization of loose materials. Pneumatic transport. Pneumatic transport devices. Hydraulic transport. Hydraulic transport devices.
Lectures, computation, numerical and computer exercises and consultations. Usage of board and chalk and Power Point presentations. Exercises are divided in calculation practice - solving problems (10 weeks) and laboratory exercises (5 weeks). Problems solved at exercises are real problems of pneumatic and hydraulic conveying. In laboratory students are acquainted with the equipment for the pneumatic and hydraulic transportation as well as with the necessary measurements.
