Development of engineering approach and practise in design and implementation of installations and plants in the field of air-conditioning
Acquisition of knowledge of design and implementation of installations and plants in the field of air-conditioning. The use of acquired knowledge in further education and engineering practice.
Introduction, history, practise and importance, External and internal climate conditions. Room climate. Selection of internal designing conditions, Comfort conditions for the people; Meteorological and climatic parameters; Cooling load; Calculation of the heat losses and gains; The basic processes of air treatment; The thermal calculation of the process air preparation for winter and summer mode air-conditioning; Classification of the system, Air conditioning plants and air conditioning equipment, Calculation and selection of equipment air conditioning installations; Determination of airflow for air conditioning; Air chamber and its elements; Air conditioning installation and air conditioning equipment; The combination with systems for ventilation; Local air conditioners; Compact devices and split-systems; Modern systems for air-conditioning; Air conditioning system control; Energy efficient supply facilities; Energy consumption in air-conditioning systems;
Lectures, Practice, Consultations, Visits of the installations and plants. During lectures theoretical part of the course is presented followed by examples of the designed or implemented solutions in the practice. Practice accompanies lectures where laboratory exercises and computing examples are done related to the lectured knowledge. During consultations additional explanations related to the lectures and practice are given. Consultations are also done during bachelor and master thesis. In order to better understand and acquire advanced knowledge of the course, typical installations and plants are visited. Also visits to international conferences and exhibitions and national and international exchange with KGH, ASHRAE, REHVA... Used software are: DesignBuilder, IES-VE, EnergyPlus, SketchUp with OpenStudio, IntergaCAD.
