Educational goal:

Basic knowledge of design and operation of motor vehicle.

Educational outcome:

Ability to solve engineering tasks that require knowledge of the design and principles of operation of motor vehicles.

Course content:

Classification of motor vehicles. Vehicle dimensions and masses. Vehicle main systems, structure and drive layouts. Role, principles of operation and designs of components of vehicle systems: 1) Transmission - clutch, gearbox, drive shafts, final drive, differential, transfer gearbox; 2) Wheels and tires; 3) Suspension system - elastic elements, dampers, wheel guiding mechanisms; 4) Steering system - steering gear, steering mechanisms; 5) Brake system - brakes, command and transmission components, endurance brake systems; 6) Vehicle body and chassis structures.

Teaching methods:

Lectures, auditory and laboratory classes, consultations.
