Acquiring basic knowledge of the configuration, function, principles of operation and diagnostics of mechatronic systems in a motor vehicle.

The ability of the student to independently and within the team perform and participate in the procedures of development, maintenance and diagnostics of mechatronic systems on motor vehicles in the field of mechanical engineering.

Basic concepts in electrical engineering and electronics in motor vehicles. Basic structure of mechatronic systems, functions and roles in motor vehicles. Types of signals and ways of transmitting information. Basic characteristics of digital and analog signals. Basic concepts of regulation and control. Function and basic characteristics of individual elements of the mechatronic system. Types and principles of operation of sensors in motor vehicles. Practical reading and interpretation of the sensor signal. Working with a multimeter, an oscilloscope and a diagnostic device. Types and principles of actuator operation. Microcontrollers. Communication networks and principles of message transmission between system elements. Systems for driving dynamics, driver assistance and autonomous driving: the physical basics of functioning; Elements, configurations and characteristics; Principles and strategies for system control. Systems for preventing wheel locking and slipping, lateral dynamics control, steering and stability of the vehicle, gearbox control, suspension systems control, autonomous driving elements. Elements of control of electric and hybrid drive systems of vehicles. Other mechatronic systems of motor vehicles.
