The goal of course is learning students about concepts of Content Management technologies (Document Management, Web Content Management, Collaboration, Workflow, Records Management...), mastering the methods and techniques for content structure designing, business process modeling for the usage in ECM systems.

After completion of the course and passing the exam, students will mastering the methods and techniques for content structure designing, business process modeling for the usage in document flows, creating and administration of dynamic web sites and portals.

This course will cover the following areas: Introduction to content management systems, ECM systems architecture, functions of EMS systems (Document Management, Web Content Management, Collaboration, Records Management, Workflow, Document Imaging...), standards and specification of ECM area. DMS concepts (document, metadata, version, repositories...), functionality (creating, categorization, storage, search, distribution), security aspects (access rights, user groups and roles). WCM concepts and functionality (planning of dynamic web sites creating, web content management, patterns management). Possibility of improvements collaboration between two users in team work during the usage of ECM systems. Workflow - business process modeling and automatization from the point of content management, document life cycle management. Records Management - concepts of record management systems. Comparison and usage of application integrated ECM solutions, commercial and Open-Source (Alfresco, MS SharePoint, Joomla, Liferay...). Usage examples of ECM solutions in different business aspects.

Teaching activity includes lectures with the practice examples, computer laboratory exercises and consultations. Students solve specific problems in the field of ECM business solutions, independently and/or in group.
