Educational goal:

The goal of the course is to master basic knowledge and models of engineering management for managing business processes in organizations on the principles of digital economy which will enable students to develop competences in the field of growth and development of companies in the period of business disruptions and major changes in relations of stakeholders. Students will be presented models of development and management of companies and different organizational structures in the period of accelerated technological change.

Educational outcome:

The student will be able to see and initiate business changes to innovate products and services using technology solutions, tools and technologies with an understanding of the digital market and digital economy. Academic Specialist in Engineering Management for Digital Transformation will acquire competencies for engineering and planning of long-term business development.

Course content:

Overview of disruptive business models. Disruptive business models through industrial revolution. Reengineering a disruptive business model. Principles of disruption. Horizontal and vertical business disruption. Transformation and evolution of business models. Hybrid economy and the role of trust. Symmetry of influence. Pressure of transparent imprints. The influence of the group and the individual on the process of disrupting engineering. Technological preconditions of disruption. Barriers of disruption. Disruption as an opportunity. Methodology of developing strategies for disruptive business ideas. Engineering Disruptive Model (IDM).

Teaching methods:

Teaching on the course includes lectures, lectures with examples, lectures of visiting lecturers and experts, simulation and modeling disruptive business models. Exercises are created to encourage individuality, originality and innovativeness of students by mastering teamwork methods on projects for creating disruptive business models, presenting and analyzing case studies, scenarios and situational management outcomes, reproduction of the time track of the company s disruptive process. Exercises are partly implemented with a computer.
