The objective of the course is to acquire knowledge and a wider image of the trends in knowledge development in the most important areas of Lean philosophy. They will be also familiar with the research in the mentioned field and thus be trained and perform independent research in this area.
The acquired knowledge, upon completion of the course, students are able to independently carry out further research in the area, using appropriate scientific methods, in accordance with existing trends.
Introduction - the application of Lean in different production and service systems. Application of Lean principles - different trends. Most important lean management tools. Development of different Lean tools. Principles of material flow and pull production. Obstacles and guides to Lean changes. Key performance metrics of the system and the effects of design parameters on system performance. Challenges in lean implementation and sustainability. Lean and green. Theories and problems concerning the role of the executive efforts to adopt lean tool and principles. Decentralized decision making.
Mentor together with the student selects one or more modules depending on the scope of the module. Consultation. Lectures are delivered in combination. Theoretical part is followed by the examples that clarify the theoretical part of the curriculum. In addition to lectures, consultations are held regularly. Student independently deepens the subject-matter learnt at lectures through his research work while studying scientific journals and other literature. In addition to working with the teacher, students are trained to write their own scientific papers.
