Educational goal:

The educational goal of the course is to introduce students to the concept of agile project management. Students will be introduced to the differences between traditional and agile methods in project management, and when to apply which approach. Through this course, the focus will be placed on Scrum, as the leading agile frame, but techniques and tools from Kanban, Lean and DSDM approaches will also be presented. Through this course, students will become acquainted with agile project management using the Scrum methodology and thus gain insights on how to choose and organize the necessary processes at all stages of software.

Educational outcome:

Students who successfully pass pre-exam obligations and the exam are able to: (1) understand the application of agile approach in project management; (2) elaborate all aspects of successful and effective agile approach in project management; (3) understand roles and responsibilities in agile projects; (4) manage projects according to the Scrum methodology; (5 )use agile processes, methods and tools.

Course content:

Introduction to agile project management. Agile versus traditional project management methods. Agile manifesto. Principles of agile project management. Scrum framework. Participation and involvement of stakeholders. Agile team and team performance measurement. Work in an agile environment. Other agile methodologies.

Teaching methods:

This course includes lectures (discussion and interactive presentations), giving basic concepts and theoretical background, with the occasional visits of guest lecturers from industry. A variety of approaches will be used, during practical classes including case study solving, simulation, joint analysis and presentation of selected projects, group work on a specific project assignments.
