The aim of the course Innovation in enterprises is to enable students to: (1) acquire basic knowledge in the field of measuring and evaluating innovation activities of enterprises, (2) identify the key factors and measures/indicators to improve innovation, innovation activities and enterprises competitive advantage, and to (3) introduce different methodologies for creation of innovative enterprises.

Students who pass the exam are able to: (1) analyze innovation activities for a company in accordance with the selected metodology and characteristics of the company, (2) to analyze the critical factors of innovation activities of companies rated by importance and level (3 ) on the basis of the results of the analysis to create a strategic map, (4) to suggest ways to improve the company.

Introduction: Innovation in the enterprise: Directions, literature, basic concepts. The importance of innovation for competitiveness. Characteristics of innovative companies (management style, process innovation, staff training, creating a climate for innovation activities boost). Innovative organization and creating the basic conditions, the characteristics of innovative companies. Barriers to innovation. The role and importance of encouraging innovation for better strategic positioning of the company. The role of strategy in the innovation process. The challenges of innovation strategy, the strategy of simple rules. Different models and their characteristics, measurement-based innovation processes and based on the results, the measurement of innovation in internal and external environments. Criteria innovation. Differences in innovation activities of manufacturing and service companies, large enterprises and SMEs. The complexity of the innovation process. Fostering innovation and enterprise in the region. Creating innovative organization (planning, leadership, Structure, Culture, processes, employees, reward system, the end result). Institutionalizing innovation activities. Innovation in services, protection of innovation, commercialization of innovations. Creating an innovative environment. Defining the key factor to improve enterprise innovation, creating strategic map for further development. Measuring innovation in the region.

Teaching is conducted through lectures and exercises. In teaching the subject dominates practical approach that involves the use of the model of evaluation of innovation activities on a particular company, or learn through experience and application. In the exercises, the work will be done in groups or individually. Part of the curriculum will require research.
