The educational goal of the course is to provide students with the understanding of international funds and international development projects and how funding mechanisms function. The course aims to enable students to understand different international funds, programs and projects, the importance of international development projects for social and economic development and progress, the eligibility for participation in various international programs and funding mechanism and the application process.

Students who successfully pass pre-exam obligations and the exam are able to: (1) understand international funds and different funding mechanisms; (2) understand and apply project approach in development programs; (3) to understand the importance, models and pathways for establishing partnerships in projects; (4) logically link the projects purpose, general and specific goals, activities, outcomes and indicators in the design of project proposals.

International funds and funding mechanisms. Managing regional development through projects. Matching projects with program requirements. Logic framework matrix in project planning. Stakeholders. Models of cooperation and partnerships on projects. Defining the project structure, and the work plan. Basic techniques that support effective project cycle management according to the EU methodology. Case studies of projects and projects within them.

Teaching is conducted through lectures and practical classes. Lectures are interactive, combine theory and practical examples,giving theoretical background and explanation about international development projects, supported by the state or various international funds. Practical classes are dedicated to practical analysis of international development projects, and gaining skills and knowledge needed techniques for the preparation of semester project (presentation of project ideas and development of project applications).
