Educational goal:

Introduction of students to selected problems related to information systems engineering and their preparation for independent research work. Consideration of information technology development perspectives. Study of state-of-the-art research approaches and methodology focused on advancement of information systems' development and applications.

Educational outcome:

The students will be introduced to with state-of-the-art development trends and approaches to problem solving processes in the field of information systems' engineering. The students will be enable to recognize the problems in the domain accurately and efficiently and solve them using scientific and research methods. The course will stimulate the development and advancement of the students' creative skills in individual and team work.

Course content:

State-of-the-art information technology and development trends. Business information systems. Information systems engineering. Agile approaches to software development. Empirical software engineering. Modern database systems, data mining and knowledge extraction. Fundamentals of business intelligence data science. eGovernment systems.

Teaching methods:

The student and her/his mentor select one or more research areas. The lectures include both theory and case studies. The students and the teachers meet on a regular basis with the goal of training the student to conduct research and publish in the chosen area.
