The aim of this subject is knowledge transfer from the field os engineering materials.
The excpectance is that the sudent is able to recognize, select and evaluate modern engineering materials.
Fundamentals of materials science. Metallic materials. Metallic materials designation system. Polymer materials. Ceramic materials. Composite materials. Materials selection. Materials characterisation.The importance and application of heat treatment on mechanical engineering. Types of processes and job descriptions. Removing stress, improve workability and unifying structure, problems of deformation and impact on quality. Impact on the use of strength, toughness and fatigue strength increase engineering materijala. Influence of surface hardening (classic and plasma processes) on the quality of machine design
Lectures in this subject are interactive with practical examples of engineering materials application. Exercises comprise both individual and team work regarding problem solving and calculation of experimental work obtained in laboratory conditions. One part of the exercises is experimental, while the other part is PC - oriented.
