Educational goal:

The aim of the course is to master key knowledge in the field of regulatory and institutional framework of information security, which implies familiarization with the international and national regulation and the established institutional system of information security that significantly influence the shaping of social relations.

Educational outcome:

Students will acquire knowledge about the emergence and development of the regulatory and institutional framework at the international, European and national level, and will be equipped to monitor the degree of compliance of the national information security regulatory/legal framework. Students will also be able to identify relevant legal frameworks and institutions.

Course content:

Introduction to the social significance and historical development of information security. General framework of social aspects of information systems and networks. Intellectual property and legal protection of copyright in cyberspace. General concepts and regulatory framework of information security. Information security development strategy, international regulatory and institutional framework of information security. European legal and institutional framework for regulating information security (the most important directives and standards). The national information security regulatory framework, the law on information security and its implementation. By-laws, decrees, regulations, standards. National institutional structure - Center for the Security of ICT Systems, Office for Information Technology and Electronic Administration. Cooperation of the public and private sectors in the field of information security. Misuse of information technologies and cyber-crime.

Teaching methods:

Teaching in the subject includes auditory lectures, with the application of the normative-legal method and the active participation of students in mastering the methodological units using the interactive method. Case studies, team presentations and discussions are processed using the legal-analytical method.
