The goal of this course is to learn about the threats and security controls used for protecting the physical endpoints and for building a loyal and security-educated workforce. This goal is highly relevant, as the physical domain and the human resources are usually the weakest links in the context of information security.

Familiarity with most well-known attacks executed via vulnerabilities in the physical access points and human resources. Capability to develop and apply efficient physical security controls. Knowledge about the relevant standards, regulations and specifications in physical security. Knowledge about the methods for building a loyal workforce which is aware of the sophisticated techniques used by potential attackers.

Designing secure data centers and process environments. External physical security, lighting, fences and barriers. Windows, doors, locks and vaults. Access cards and biometric sensors. Physically securing computing equipment. Surveillance in the physical domain. Standards in physical security. Well-known cases of security breaches via the human element. Impersonation. Building a loyal and security-aware workforce. Continuous information security trainings.
